April 19, 2009LIGHTS - CANDA'S VERY OWN WONDERWOMAN!Generally songs come from me being super bummed out. That's when all my best songs come out. It's kind of unfortunate because you listen back and you remember those moments, but the song that came out of it is me trying to look at things in the positive light, just trying to cheer myself up. In a way it's kinda like bittersweet playing these songs every night. It really spawns from moments of intense oppressed emotion. If it doesn't come in like an hour or two hours, like the bulk of the song then you can't ever finish it. That emotion's gone and it's the kind of thing that has to happen really fast, you have to catch it; it's like a special moment."...
vivalascene <3 Lights...and we're pretty sure that you will too after you read this interview. This Canadian synth-pop princess is set to take the world by storm with her infectious songs. She was featured on this years Give It A Name tour and chatted with us when she hit Glasgow. Check out the site NOW for the full interview, a gallery of photos and a review of the show.

VERSAEMERGE - INTERVIEW WITH SIERRA!"Blake loves movie scores and film scores in general. He absolutely loves them and he loves big orchestral type things and he takes a lot of influence from that. Him being the main music writer, that's definitely the feel [of the music]. We really like the cinematic emotion of a movie so we kind of want to incorporate that emotional feel into our music the best we can. It's really, really cool that you can watch a movie and it can have a shitty plot but the music makes you kind of like...on edge."...
Versaemerge are the latest additions to the FBR family and we caught up with lead vocalist, Sierra when they hit Glasgow as part of the GIAN Introducing tour. A super lovely lady, she was more than happy to chat with us, so why not head on over to the site and read what she had to say? A full gallery of pictures and a review of the show are always up =)

IN THIS MOMENT - LIVIN' THE DREAM.Maria came up with the idea to call it "The Dream". Basically it was because of everything that happened for our first album - we got to do Ozzfest which is something we've always dreamed about doing, we got to tour with Ozzy Osbourne, we got to play Madison Square Gardens ; the biggest venues in America - and it was like a dream come true. So "The Dream" just fit."...
The Give It A Name Introducing tour hit Glasgow in April and vivalascene went along to check it out. We sat down with Chris Howorth, guitarist of In This Moment. Head over to the site to check out the full interview, a gallery of shots from the band's set and a full review of the entire live show. Go, go, go!

April 3, 2009THE BOXER REBELLION - Why They Won't Be Popping Up On 'The O.C.' Anytime Soon."I'd say atmospheric, because we do overload on breaks and reverbs and all that kind of stuff, and also I think that I'd say the other one is cinematic, because I think it can work well with TV shows or movies or things like that. It kind of gives you a feeling, I mean, just the music itself without words or anything"
When vivalascene caught up with The Boxer Rebellion our chat covered a whole host of topics, from how the band came together, their search for a label, why everyone must go to Glastonbury at least once, and why the band won't be appearing on 'The O.C.' in the near future. HERE is where you should click to read this in-depth and fascinating interview!

YOU ME AT SIX - Fun Loving, Happy...Dogmatic?“We’ve written a lot actually,” explains Josh. “I think actually, I’m kind of glad we just kinda got on with it, because I think that way, because we just started writing, there’s no pressure in our heads to write new songs cause we’re already writing at the moment."... Having conquered their native UK, You Me At Six are set to take America by storm this summer. vivalascene caught up with them in Glasgow, ahead of their Scottish date of their sold out UK tour. Click HERE to find out what the band would change about their debut album, what their 7:7:7 tour was all about and how lead singer Josh discovered a very effective painkiller in Manchester... TOMMY REILLY - Scotland's Next Big Thing..."This has been the best week ever; I can't even describe how fun it's been. And everyone takes care of you really well - and there's free beer every day! Life is amazing at the moment. I'm kinda getting a bit worried though, to be honest with you. I'm Starting to get a bit paranoid - when's something going to do terribly, terribly wrong? I've been trying to write a new song over the last few days and that's what I've been trying to write it about; about how paranoid about it all I am."...
Singer-songwriter Tommy Reilly is onto something good. Currently selling out shows across the UK and recording his debut album as we speak (or rather, as you read) he certainly has the talent to go far. vivalascene met up for a chat about everything from why he started playing music to how he ended up at the NME awards talking to Dave Brown of Mighty Boosh fame. BROADWAY CALLS CREW - A.K.A The Dudes That Do All The Work..."As soon as I get out of bed I'm working. Erm, I have to make sure that they (Broadway Calls) are up in time, that they're in the van in time. Make sure that they are in sound check on time, make sure the gear is set up. When they're on stage, when I'm on stage with them all the guitars have to be in tune. I have to make sure that if anything unplugs or anything breaks, I can repair it, or fix it. Err, I have to make sure they have a place to stay, they have a good nights sleep when we get a place to say"...
Have you ever wondered just what being a member of tour crew entails? Who are those people who lurk about at the side of the stage during your favourite bands set? Well, now you can learn all about these mysterious people because vivalascene recently sat down with Matt & Ben, two members of the Broadway Call's touring crew. FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS - Nirvana Inspired Chaos..."I'd say my favourite thing on tour is the running of the bulls. Like when we get to travel a lot we have to watch a lot of bull runs."...

Their interview with vivalascene was no different. Click HERE to find out the band's opinion on British road safety, why Appletise (a UK fizzy soft drink) might just be the best creation ever and how the band's next album wil be entirely stolen from Nivana's discography. A DAY TO REMEMBER - Homesick?"I try to write about just pretty much what is going on in our lives at that time" Jeremy starts as he begins to talk about the inspiration for the record. "Since we were on tour pretty much for two years straight, it just kind of made sense, so we just wrote about stuff like that. The CD is just about being away from home and dealing with situations like that."...
Jeremy and Joshua from A Day To Remember sat down with a vivalascene in Newcastle to tell us all about the inspiration behind their thrid studio album, their touring schedule and why they were happy to lose out at a recent award show. ALL AMERICAN REJECTS - Third Time Lucky?"It really took right up until the mastering process until we were like "OK…maybe it's a good record!", and once we kinda had it done and we all walked away for like, a week and then we're like "OK! This is pretty decent. We can deal with it!"...
Three years after they had last visited our lovely country, The All American Rejects were back in the UK. Mike was kind enough to have a chat with vivalascene. Head over to the site to find out his favourite song from "When The World Comes Down" and how the recording their third album nearly tore the band apart. FINCH - Reunited and Ready to Rock!"Its been awesome" Randy tells us, his obvious excitement of being able to tour again evident as he speaks "I mean it helps us click and find our place back in the band and, we kind of develop new things within ourselves personally I think. Then we take those things and when we go to write or whatever, we kind of try and mould it together and create something new, and that's what we're doing right now, we're trying to just write our new record and so there's a lot of like touring and in between times we're just trying to write songs"...
After a two year hiatus, Finch reformed in 2007 and headed back to the UK for a headline tour. They were more than happy to tell vivalascene about their reunion, their favourite songs to perform live and their plans for a new album. Click HERE for Finch-shaped goodies!

FIGHTSTAR - Sometimes It's Better To Do It Yourself..."We ran into our fair share of problems [with Island]" Charlie explains "There were a few disputes here and there artistically but, general creative freedom went up a bar once we were out of the major machine, it felt a bit a little freer. But to be honest now, we're doing it more on our own accord, which is even better still. We're pretty much exactly where we wanted to be now..."
